01What it does

What Citta Inc does

Mission

CITTA focuses on underprivileged communities which are considered to be some of the worlds most economically challenged and remote. Our objective is to preserve the culture of the communities we support. CITTA has developed a holistic and adaptable method called the HEED model (Health, Education, and Economic Development). We connect with these communities, considering the lack of access to proper healthcare and educational opportunities and weak or nonexistent economic development that can lead a community into a never-ending downward spiral. CITTA works to remedy the specific needs of a community, to produce an environment of equanimity and stability that provides opportunities and a sense of initiative and pride in its inhabitants.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. The Rajkumari Ratnavati School is open and presently offered to girls below the poverty line residing in the Thar Desert region of Jaisalmer District, Rajasthan, India. The facilities include classrooms, a library, a computer center, and a bus facility to transport girls from neighboring villages. The school began with an enrollment of 140 girls from Class 1 to 4 that will move up in the school each year until we reach capacity at 400 students up to Class 10. Using a social-emotional learning-based curriculum, students learn to read, write, and develop traditional skills unique to the region. The school also provides mid-day meals to ensure proper students nutrition and lessen families financial burden. Cittas programs in Rajasthan empower women and girls through education, livelihoods, and cultural preservation. The Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School in Jaisalmer offers quality education and transport for first-generation learners, supported by technology-led and SEE (Social, Emotional, and Ethical) learning. 03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base narrowed from 10 funders to 6 funders, grant income rose $150k → $359k.

9 of 24 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 26% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Citta Inc’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

Citta Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 36% of grant income and the top three 80%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

26% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Citta Inc.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

37% of Citta Inc's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 58% give in more than one year at all.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $763k arriving through sponsors registered in 9 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
