01What it does

What Chimp Haven Inc does

Mission

Provide and promote the best care of sanctuary chimpanzees and inspire action for the species worldwide.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. As the world's largest chimpanzee sanctuary, chimp haven provides sanctuary retirement to more than 300 chimps who formerly spent their lives in biomedical research. The sanctuary is purposefully designed to provide for their unique needs and offers them many of the experiences they might have had in the wild, including fresh, healthy meals, daily enrichment, expert care, forested habitats, social groups, and the freedom to choose how to spend their days. Chimp haven continues to expand its facilities to accommodate future chimpanzee housing needs and ensure space for chimps who may need sanctuary.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $2.4M arriving through sponsors registered in 14 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
