Program

  1. Bishop Sheen Ecumenical Housing Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation that goes beyond what most housing related organizations offer to provide safe, decent, affordable housing for low income individuals, families, seniors, veterans, and persons living with disabilities. We seek to promote the self-worth and dignity of the persons we serve and the community at large by offering financial assistance and a wide range of housing services. Our clients have an average income of $25,150 and often must choose between food, health care and other basic necessities, leaving them with few resources for critical health and safety home repairs.(Continued on Schedule O)This year alone, we touched the lives of over 871 vulnerable, low income households with an investment of over $5,300,000 by providing health and safety home repairs, home modifications, comprehensive housing counseling and sustainable, affordable housing. Our programs contribute to the quality of life and positive health outcomes for both clients and our community. This program is supported by government grants and contributions.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 5 funders, grant income rose $30k → $714k.

4 of 14 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 9% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Bishop Sheen Ecumenical Housing Foundation Inc’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Bishop Sheen Ecumenical Housing Foundation Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 53% of grant income and the top three 88%; half comes from just 1 funder.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $281k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
