Mission

Each year, the american fundaising foundation (amfund) carefully chooses organizations to donate funds to in order to support the important mission of those organizations.leveraging more than two decades of fundraising experience, amfund also provides expert educational support and training on a wide variety of topics and offers subject matter expertise through its speaker's bureau for groups ranging in size from 12 to 500.the golden pear, prominently part of amfund's new logo, is deeply rooted in history as well as a mission. Throughout history, even before the written word, the pear has been honored as a sacred fruit signifying wisdom, prosperity, good health, longevity, and future happiness-all things amfund seeks for its nonprofit partners.

As stated on its FY2020 Form 990.

Program

As former television news anchors, our founders had learned during their careers that despite the dedication of many nonprofit organizations and their personnel, and the critical need for the goods and services they provide, vitally important and needed education focused on the needs of nonprofit organizations was generally not available to those nonprofit organizations. Amfund teaches nonprofits how to maximize the public perception of their nonprofit through the use of news media coverage, the internet including social media, public appearances, public relations, volunteer recruitment and management, and contact with known and prospective supporters at traditional fundraising events such as annual galas, fundraising dinners and participatory sporting events such as golf tournaments. Additional, critically needed unrestricted funding is often one of the direct and immediate beneficial results of amfund's work due to the nonprofit organizations newly enhanced perception as a vitally needed community asset. That recognition occurs within the community at large and especially among potential and recurring high net worth individuals/donors and grant-issuing elected and appointed…

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income rose $6k → $8k.

7 of 15 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 59% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of AMERICAN FUNDRAISING FOUNDATION INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

AMERICAN FUNDRAISING FOUNDATION INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 17% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left

75% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund AMERICAN FUNDRAISING FOUNDATION INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

0% of AMERICAN FUNDRAISING FOUNDATION INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 20% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Where its funders are

59% of AMERICAN FUNDRAISING FOUNDATION INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $77k that is directly attributable, 94% of it comes from funders outside Florida, across 8 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $109k arriving through sponsors registered in 6 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
