01What it does

What Valor Preparatory Academy does

Mission

The mission of Valor Preparatory Academy is to partner with families to provide excellent education and develop passionate disciples of jesus, who are prepared to courageously influence culture for the glory of god.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2024 return the organization reported starting a significant new program.

During the year, Valor Preparatory Academy received a donation of a building with a fair market value of $15,270,000. The building was donated to support the organization's mission of providing excellent education and developing passionate disciples of jesus, who are prepared to courageously influence culture for the glory of god by facilitating the remodeling and creation of a new school facility. To further this purpose, Valor Preparatory Academy transferred the building to its supporting organization, vpa, inc., which will ensure the property is developed and utilized in alignment with the academy's educational objectives and mission. Designated donations of $583,636 were also used by vpa towards the remodel of this building. In addition, vpa provided $40,000 of financial support back to Valor Preparatory Academy to assist with operations. This significant program activity was undertaken to expand the academy's capacity to serve students and enhance its educational offerings to the community.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 5 funders, grant income fell $200k → $72k.

6 of 10 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 38% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Left out of every figure on this page: $40k from one payer (the payer shares this organization's board, largest VPA Properties Inc). These are real filings, and they are not money Valor Preparatory Academy raised.

From the IRS filings of Valor Preparatory Academy’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

Valor Preparatory Academy leans on a few funders — its largest provides 54% of grant income and the top three 78%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

38% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Valor Preparatory Academy.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $946k arriving through sponsors registered in 6 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
