What The Peter Zippi Memorial Fund Inc does
Mission
In memory of Peter Zippi, a young man dedicated to the care of animals. Our mission is to network to end homeless pets through the intake and safe placement of cats and kittens and provision of financial aid to community members for spay and neuter.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Programs
In 2025, the Organization adopted out 57 cats and kittens to loving homes. All of our intakes receive preventative medical care in addition to vaccinations. Many receive extensive medical care to treat various maladies.

Volunteers play a vital role in socializing cats, caring for in-house animals, and ensuring they receive the attention and care they need. Additionally, they assist the community by answering hotline calls, providing information on affordable veterinary services and rehoming resources, and distributing pet food and supplies as inventory permits. Volunteers also serve as Adoption Counselors, offering valuable insights into shelter cat personalities to help potential adopters find the right match Some volunteers foster cats and kittens in their homes, providing essential care and socialization in a home environment. Furthermore, volunteers manage key aspects of our free spay-neuter events, including booking appointments, checking in participants, and ensuring smooth operations throughout the day. They also oversee our voucher program, carefully reviewing applications for accuracy, making necessary corrections, and approving them ahead of scheduled appointments with our clinic partners.

Additionally, our voucher program makes affordable spay-neuter accessible to individuals managing community cat colonies, caring for stray cats, and seeking services for their personal pets. In 2025, our spay-neuter initiatives helped 1,286 animals receive spay-neuter surgeries. This includes 1079 feral, stray, and owned cats and dogs through our voucher program alone. The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.

Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $444k to $290k (−35%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income fell $14k → $8k.
5 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 71% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

How concentrated its funding is
THE PETER ZIPPI MEMORIAL FUND INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 42% of grant income and the top three 71%; half comes from just 2 funders.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THE PETER ZIPPI MEMORIAL FUND INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 100% · 2020 100% · 2021 100% · 2022 53% · 2023 84% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
71% of THE PETER ZIPPI MEMORIAL FUND INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $27k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside California, across 2 states.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $68k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
