Mission

Performance of religious, benevolent, charitable and educational activities

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. 1. Hiring of two key staff: Rector - Bishop Daniel Turley, OSA & Ministry Program Director - Ed Shuttleworth. Both of these hires were critical to the growth and marketing of our programs. Bishop Turley has brought new groups into our Shrine from Italy, Chicago parishes that were not aware of our Shrine along with sharing information about our space for retreats. In 2025, Ed Shuttleworth spent his initial months personally visiting schools and parishes throughout the Chicagoland Archdiocese, again, bringing the same awareness that Bishop Turley did. 2. Added new community focused events/programs geared toward families and young people: A. In July, 2025, we hosted a community family birthday party to celebrate Mother Cabrinis 175th birthday. This event included animated movie, crafts for children, coloring and many other family friendly events. B. As mentioned above, the two new staff roles raised awareness so we were able to offer retreat space (at no cost) to Religious Education Confirmation groups who are required to host two retreats prior to actual confirmation. We had three parishes accept this opportunity in 2025. C. We also offered our first Hispanic Mass when we partnered…

Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2023: the base broadened from 3 funders to 6 funders, grant income rose $12k → $16k.

5 of 10 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 32% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Left out of every figure on this page: $25k from one payer (the payer shares this organization's board, largest Mother Cabrini League). These are real filings, and they are not money THE NATIONAL SHRINE OF ST FRANCES XAVIER CABRINI INC raised.

From the IRS filings of THE NATIONAL SHRINE OF ST FRANCES XAVIER CABRINI INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

THE NATIONAL SHRINE OF ST FRANCES XAVIER CABRINI INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 35% of grant income and the top three 72%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

32% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THE NATIONAL SHRINE OF ST FRANCES XAVIER CABRINI INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How long its funders stay

100% of THE NATIONAL SHRINE OF ST FRANCES XAVIER CABRINI INC's funders are still giving 2 years after their first grant; 90% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $78k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
