01What it does

What The Cosac Foundation Inc does

Mission

Improve the quality of life for the poor and homeless in florida, to provide a model for homeless facilities to help individuals and families in need. The last resort for many desperate individuals in the state of florida.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Cosac developed the homeless newspaper, a funding tool, which has been responsible for employing homeless people and therefore giving them income to survive, enabling victims of economic plight to find shelter. The homeless voice newspaper is the means by which we advocate on behalf of the homeless population and educate the public as to the true nature of homelessness and ways we can all work to eliminate the bias this sector of our population and help empower those affected by homelessness to regain or maintain their self esteem and sense of self worth during their transition through difficult times.

  2. Cosac also independently feeds the homeless population in need of food. The clients receive three meals a day at arnolds cafe, named after the great homeless advocate arnold abbott. Cosac foundation decided to become the florida food panty. This service helps cosac to provide food for those nearly homeless families.

Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 4 funders, grant income rose $8k → $57k.

3 of 11 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 19% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $180k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
