01What it does

What The Boselli Foundation does

Mission

The Boselli Foundation provides support to teachers through a variety of professional learning experiences, with an emphasis on those teaching in title I schools. Our goal is to ensure all students receive a quality education by providing support to the teachers who impact students in classrooms every day.

As stated on its FY2020 Form 990.

Program

  1. The mission of The Boselli Foundation is to build leaders for the next generation through academics, athletics, and character development and they accomplish this through two initiatives. Boselli Foundation Mentoring is a leadership development program designed to encourage young men to become functional leaders through empowerment and mentorship. We believe that all men have dignity and worth and must be empowered to live it out. Our goal is to inspire strength, develop character, pursue wholeness and uphold human dignity through rich content, courageous conversations, and practical strategies. The Boselli Teacher Fellowship provides teachers in K-12 classrooms with professional learning opportunities to cultivate skills in the areas of student-centered teaching and effective instructional practices. This year-long program for those with a minimum of two years of teaching experience develops effective educational leaders serving students in Jacksonvilles highest areas of need. Individual coaching, mentoring, and ongoing workshops allow teachers to build knowledge and skills to support students in their classrooms.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 3 funders to 10 funders, grant income rose $55k → $148k.

5 of 19 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 53% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of The Boselli Foundation’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

The Boselli Foundation leans on a few funders — its largest provides 44% of grant income and the top three 66%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

62% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund The Boselli Foundation.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

33% of The Boselli Foundation's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 42% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Where its funders are

53% of The Boselli Foundation's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $240k that is directly attributable, 67% of it comes from Florida funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $271k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
