01What it does

What Sixtwelve Inc does

Mission

Sixtwelve is a small community education center that focuses on providing educational opportunities in the areas of creativity and sustainability for people of all ages. The idea is to provide a a place where people learn to take better care of themselves and each other in healthy ways, where everyone belongs from the time they are very little until they leave the planet. Our beautiful, serene and secure campus is located in the heart of okc, nestled in the vibrant paseo arts district, surrounded by the neighborhoods of mesta park, edgemere park, crown heights, heritage hills, and jefferson park.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. The after school adventure program is a creative program designed specifically for 6-12 year-olds and up, with an emphasis on activities in art, music, gardening, cooking and all of the fun that kids' curiosity and creativity can bring. This program is held september through may and is designed to continue encouraging creativity in and fostering support for children after they have left our pre-k program, which we discontinued in 2021. We brought this program back in september of 2021 and expanded to add tuesdays for 3-5 year-olds in the fall of 2023. This allows us to bring back a focus on early childhood education, and to add to the number of years that we may be of service to a child and their family.

  2. The sixtwelve residency program is a creative program that we have offered since our opening in 2015. It is designed to stimulate creativity and community around shared and individual experiences in the areas of art, music, film, dance, cooking and gardening. Until the pandemic began, we held residencies in both oklahoma city and savannah, georgia, establishing a creative exchange of ideas, methods, and resources. We provided the housing, payment for time, a stipend for materials, connection to other community nonprofit organizations, leaders, and opportunities to show or share their work and to serve the community in some meaningful way. Due to the pandemic this program had been on hold in 2021,but in the spring of 2022, we brought back local oklahoma city residents who would not need a place to live while working with us, and integrated their service requirement with the after school program. Thus, our students benefited from local artists, musicians, and art therapists coming in to work on creative projects with them.

  3. Our first friday music performance series runs september through may. During the paseo arts associations' first friday art walks, sixtwelve provided music for the community on our stage and lawn, free of charge to anyone who wanted to attend. Our intention with establishing this program was to support local musicians financially, to support community in our neighborhood arts district, in which sixtwelve is located, and to provide a layered set of experiences here for our students, families, and residents.

Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 4 funders, grant income rose $1k → $10k.

2 of 6 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 27% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of SIXTWELVE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

SIXTWELVE INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 26% of grant income and the top three 73%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

59% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund SIXTWELVE INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $12k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
