01What it does

What Safe Harbor Ohio Inc does

Mission

Ohio is now home to safe harbor, a faith-based, long-term, residential, therapeutic community for girls, ages 14 through 18, who are survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. Safe harbor provides trauma-informed, holistic care for the girls on site. These services will include on-site medical and physical care provided by local partners such as springvale health centers, doctors, psychiatrists, and staff therapists. For their education, we have partnered with quaker digital academy. With a staff pastor and the help of local churches, we will nurture the girls' spirituality to find their own faith. Reconnecting with the community and where appropriate, family and relatives are also part of the circle of care, with mentoring, family, and group therapy. We'll also be teaching social and relational skills like healthy conflict resolution and self-regulation, plus independent living and job skills training.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. Our model building from the ground up, safe harbor ohio will provide trauma-informed, holistic care for each girl. Tailored services will include: on-site medical and physical care provided by springvale heath centers education through our partnership with quaker digital academy social and relational skills such as healthy conflict resolution and self-regulation independent living and job-skills training circle of care some people refer to this as a continuum of care, but we like the circle analogy since we want to appropriately and sensitively surround each girl with the services she needs for her individualized healing plan. These services are critical relational points for the life of each girl in order to convey love, safety, and care. Psychological our entire staff will be trained in trust based relational intervention (tbri) and will receive other ongoing professional training specific to the care of child survivors of sex trafficking. The girls living at safe harbor ohio will attend weekly one-on-one therapy sessions with in-house licensed therapists. They will also have the opportunity to participate in group therapy with other survivors. To round out the holistic…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

Grant support over time, funder by funder — shade shows the grant size each year.

2 of 9 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 18% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of SAFE HARBOR OHIO INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

SAFE HARBOR OHIO INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 74% of grant income and the top three 92%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

94% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund SAFE HARBOR OHIO INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $117k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
