  2. Fair housing - the fair housing center investigated 338 complaints of discrimination for the year ended june 30, 2025. A total of 566 people benefited from those investigations, and the organization's staff fielded 1,076 calls for information and referral. The litigated settlement amounts for these cases also resulted in a recovery of $27,246 for project sentinel's staff time and dispersed resources. Many other fair housing cases were resolved through negotiation and advocacy, resulting in changes to non-compliant rental policies and practices, the granting of requested reasonable accommodations, (continued on schedule o)and the withdrawal of evictions. 3. Hud housing counseling - hud housing counseling ("hhc") provides needed and sometimes required counseling to homeowners and future homeowners. Most first-time homebuyer assistance programs require a certificate of either counseling or an educational workshop. Other government programs also require counseling for housing programs, such as applying for a reverse mortgage. Hhc also uses funds from the national mortgage settlement fund ("nmsf"), which is administered by the california housing finance agency ("calhfa"), to support its hud housing counseling program. It provides free housing counseling services to california households struggling to pay rent, mortgage, and living expenses. During the year ended june 30, 2025, hhc assisted 1,219 first-time homebuyers (continued on schedule o)in preparing for homeownership through homebuyer educational workshops and provided individual one-on-one pre-purchase counseling to an additional 865 households. Hhc also assisted 78 homeowners with mortgage default and delinquency counseling and provided reverse mortgage counseling to 631 households. Combined, a total of 2,793 individuals received homeownership education and counseling services.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 6 funders, grant income rose $35k → $977k.

5 of 10 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 3% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of PROJECT SENTINEL INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

PROJECT SENTINEL INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 69% of grant income and the top three 95%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

85% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PROJECT SENTINEL INC.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 85% · 2018 100% · 2020 100% · 2021 75% · 2022 70% · 2023 65% — diversifying over time.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How long its funders stay

40% of PROJECT SENTINEL INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 70% give in more than one year at all.

first grant+1y+2y+3y

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Where its funders are

89% of PROJECT SENTINEL INC's grant income comes from California funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $128k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
