What Pet Pride of New York Inc does
Mission
Pet pride of new york has been saving homeless cats and matching them with caring adopters since 1977. We operate a no-kill cat sanctuary and adoption center with an on-site veterinary medical center where we shelter and care for cats and kittens who are stray, abandoned, orphaned, or surrendered.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Programs
Shelter programwe operate a new york state registered shelter/rescue for homeless and surrendered cats and kittens. Cats roam freely in an open, enriched environment where they interact regularly with volunteers and visitors. Cubbies, ramps, window perches, cat trees, and screened outdoor patios encourage exploration and movement. We substantially increased our capacity for care in 2023 with the completion of a $1.2m renovation and expansion of our sanctuary. The admission of 899 homeless cats and kittens to our shelter and foster homes during the year 2025 represents a 49% increase over 2022.
$259,942 spent53% of program spendingVeterinary care programwe provide timely, expert veterinary care on site with minimal stress to our feline patients. Our shelter includes a surgical suite; exam, testing, and treatment areas; and an isolation room. With a licensed veterinary technician on staff and experienced veterinarians who volunteer their time on a regular basis, our cats and kittens have the majority of their medical, surgical, and dental needs met in house. Cats and kittens receive exams, diagnostic testing, preventive care, medication and treatment, dental care and dental surgery, and other surgical procedures at pet pride. All unaltered cats and kittens are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, and our veterinary team performs nearly 90% of those surgeries on premises. Delivering care on site significantly reduces cats' stress and decreases time in shelter, which produces a corresponding increase in the number of cats we can help.

The pet pride cat sanctuary and adoption center is open to the public, and we have designated spaces for prospective adopters to observe and interact with adoptable cats. Trained staff and volunteers screen and interview prospective adopters, make suitable matches with adoptable cats, and follow up after placement to help ensure success. They provide advice and guidance to keep cats in their homes when appropriate and welcome any pet pride cat back into our shelter at any time if that is the better option. We strive to ensure that no pet pride cat is ever homeless again.foster program pet pride maintains a network of volunteer foster providers who enable us to extend our lifesaving reach beyond the walls of our shelter and increase our capacity for care. Orphaned and newborn kittens with their fragile immune systems, pregnant and nursing mom cats who need a quiet space, and cats who are not thriving in the shelter or who need additional socialization are cared for in private homes. The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.

Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $2.6M to $4.5M (+77%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2021 1% · 2023 22%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 4 funders, grant income rose $500 → $1k.
5 of 11 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 76% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

How concentrated its funding is
PET PRIDE OF NEW YORK INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 23% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left
76% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PET PRIDE OF NEW YORK INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 100% · 2020 58% · 2021 100% · 2022 61% · 2023 51% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How long its funders stay
50% of PET PRIDE OF NEW YORK INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 36% give in more than one year at all.
Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.
Where its funders are
76% of PET PRIDE OF NEW YORK INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $11k that is directly attributable, 72% of it comes from New York funders.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $35k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
