What Paws in Need Tulsa Inc does
Mission
The purpose of Paws in Need Tulsa, Inc. is to provide comfort, care, and hope to the Tulsa area's homeless animal population by raising and distributing funds for: veterinary expenses, transport costs, supplies for fosters, boarding costs for animals awaiting transport, any other items or services deemed necessary to provide comfort and care to homeless animals while in the city shelter.

Programs
Our transport program successfully transferred over 700 homeless animals in 2024 to out of state rescue partners where they are adopted into loving forever homes. The cost of our transport program includes van maintenance and insurance, gas, volunteer mileage reimbursements, hotel and food expenses for drivers, and travel crates, bedding, and other supplies as needed.
$23,749 spent19% of program spendingOur veterinary program includes vetting of the animals we transfer to ensure that they are healthy enough to cross states lines according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, & Forestry.
$64,804 spent52% of program spendingOur foster program provides food and supplies for volunteers who open up their home to foster an animal awaiting transport so it does not have to go into a boarding facility.
$19,061 spent15% of program spendingOccasionally, we cannot find fosters for certain animals; thus, our boarding program pays for the costs of boarding these animals at a facility until they leave on transport.
$1,508 spent1% of program spendingSometimes, when we are asked to place puppies on transport born into an accidental litter, we offer to sterilize the litter's mom to prevent future unwanted litters. We also pay for sterilization of animals for families in extenuating circumstances to prevent unwanted litters.
$10,567 spent9% of program spendingOccasionally, we fundraise to be able to purchase items that fall outside of the budget for Tulsa Animal Welfare, our municipal shelter. These items include Kuranda beds, blankets, crates, playpens, enrichment items.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2020, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2020, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2021 to 2022, from $17k to $56k (+223%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
100% of PAWS IN NEED TULSA INC’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (86% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2020 → 2023: the base narrowed from 2 funders to 1 funder, grant income fell $13k → $208.
4 of 6 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 85% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of PAWS IN NEED TULSA INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
PAWS IN NEED TULSA INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 33% of grant income and the top three 84%; half comes from just 2 funders.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PAWS IN NEED TULSA INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 100% · 2021 98% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
85% of PAWS IN NEED TULSA INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $10k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside Oklahoma, across 2 states.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $56k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
