Program
On its FY2025 return the organization reported a significant change in how it conducts a program.
During the year ended december 31, 2025, the organization experienced a significant change in how it conducted its program service activities and a reduction in certain program services as compared to the prior year. As further described in the audited financial statements, during 2025 the organization experienced an unexpected cessation of funding from the u.s. Agency for international development (usaid) and the u.s. Department of state bureau of population, refugees and migration (bprm), which had previously supported a substantial portion of its humanitarian programming. As a result of this funding loss, the organization significantly reduced or discontinued certain program activities, particularly in colombia, including healthcare services, nutrition programs, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (wash) initiatives. The organization also reduced staffing levels and operational capacity in affected program areas. In response to these changes, the organization adjusted its program delivery model and is increasingly utilizing partnerships with affiliated and third-party organizations to continue providing humanitarian assistance on a more limited scale. These changes resulted in a significant decrease in program service expenditures and the number of individuals served during 2025 as compared to the prior year.
Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 3).
In 2025, mia's work continued to focus primarily in six countries (colombia, venezuela, haiti, mexico, peru and the united states), but due to the sudden cessation of u.s. Government funding from usaid and the state department's bureau of population, refugees and migration (bprm), the reach of our programs to those in need was reduced from over 515,000 individuals served in 2024 to fewer than 100,000 in 2025. The impact was felt largely in our services in colombia. *continued on schedule oadditionally, mia provided financial support to our mi affiliate, facilitating critical aid to ukraine, romania, and gaza. Mia's projects are concentrated in four main areas: healthcare, both physical and psychosocial; water, sanitation and hygiene (wash); nutrition and food security; and emergency response and risk preparedness. Some of mia's key projects are described below:colombia: healthcare, nutrition and wash early in 2025, mia's activities in colombia were dramatically reduced by the termination of usaid and u.s. State department funding for foreign humanitarian aid. This resulted in the complete closure of our mobile health brigades; refugee and migrant healthcare clinics; pediatric and…

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2020 to 2021, from $1.5M to $6.3M (+313%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2021 28% · 2022 36% · 2023 43% · 2024 64% · 2025 26%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.

78% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ORDER OF MALTA WORLDWIDE RELIEF MALTESER INTERNATIONAL AMERICAS.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 43% · 2018 37% · 2019 51% · 2020 17% · 2021 19% · 2022 35% · 2023 29% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year.
