What New England Medical Association Inc does
Mission
To support and represent the interests of physicians of color, and physicians caring for minority patients, who are practicing or reside in the New England Area. At NEMA we envision a powerful collective voice of Black physicians dedicated to achieving justice in medicine. NEMA is dedicated to creating a community that advocates to eliminate health disparities, provides career development opportunities, implements mentoring programs and service through collaborative, community-based projects.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
NEMA members worked with state legislatures to educate and advocate for the need to identify and track the number of African American physicians at the various levels in the medical institutions and schools. A committee of 7 members and two legal consultants met with over 100 legislatures throughout the year. A major state Agency will add tracking racial identity of medical professionals to their regular activity.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2022, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2022, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $26k to $36k (+37%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
