01What it does

What New Beginnings-A Home for Mothers Inc does

Mission

The mission of new beginnings is to help a single mother develop spiritually in god's word, become a responsible citizen in society, continue her education, achieve self-sufficiency and be a competent and loving christian parent.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. New beginnings - a home for mothers is an ambitious program of charity and instruction targeting the generationally poor single mother with skills-training and opportunities for her to become a responsible and self-sufficient member of society. At new beginnings we provide spiritual, parental, educational, vocational, social, personal well-being, and material support for single mothers in a residential setting for select participants. We also are maturing a mentoring program that both follows a mother after she leaves new beginnings and includes serving others outside of our residential setting who could benefit from our assistance. New beginnings accomplishes its work by networking with area charitable and government programs and enlisting the active involvement of paid staff and a growing number of volunteers who share their skills as trainers and mentors for the mothers at new beginnings.

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 4 funders, grant income fell $65k → $12k.

2 of 10 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 3% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

NEW BEGINNINGS-A HOME FOR MOTHERS INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 71% of grant income and the top three 94%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

90% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund NEW BEGINNINGS-A HOME FOR MOTHERS INC.
