Programs

  1. Member services: nwa conferences offer an excellent opportunity for wic agency leaders and staff, nwa partners and other wic stakeholders to acquire new skills and to network with an estimated 1,000 peers, and colleagues from across the country. In addition, exhibitors will share examples and information on the newest wic-related products and services for wic staff and participants. Nwa offers both in-person and virtual conferences. Nwa conferences also offer an opportunity for attendees to hear from usda officials and to dialogue on relevant updates and challenges that the program faces. Content for conferences is solicited through a competitive abstract process and curated by a conference committee and nwa staff. (continued on schedule o)moreover, nwa's conferences support ongoing professional development by offering continuing education credits for registered dietitians and international board certified lactation consultants. The core function of member services revenue is to ensure a positive nwa member experience and to support the operating expenses of nwa. This includes staffing expenses across the organization. 03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 10 funders, grant income rose $30k → $2.7M.

4 of 18 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 12% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of NATIONAL WIC ASSOCIATION’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 17 of 18 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

NATIONAL WIC ASSOCIATION leans on a few funders — its largest provides 38% of grant income and the top three 71%; half comes from just 2 funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $1.2M arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
