What Moms Love Forever does
Mission
We provide assistance and support to incarcerated women. Our programs primarily serve incarcerated parents and their children, caregivers, and families in Los Angeles County but we also do programming and initiatives in Hawaii. In addition to those directly participating in our programs, our work has a broader impact on spouses, grandparents, caregivers, siblings, and other family members. Because incarceration affects the entire family unit, the total number of individuals benefiting from the strengthened family connections created by our programs is substantially greater than our direct-service count.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

HOUSING PROJECT FOR NATIVE HAWAIIAN FAMILIES IMPACTED BY INCARCERATION-Moms Love Forever's Hawaii Housing Initiative was created to provide a tangible source of hope, stability, and community for Native Hawaiians impacted by incarceration. The initiative began with the construction of a prefabricated home designed to serve both as a model for future transitional housing and as a gathering place where formerly incarcerated individuals and their families could connect with Native Hawaiian community leaders, service providers, and other resources to help them successfully rebuild their lives. The mission is deeply personal to me. During my own incarceration in Hawaii, I witnessed firsthand the disproportionate impact of incarceration on Native Hawaiian women-approximately 80% of the women incarcerated alongside me were of Native Hawaiian descent. That experience inspired me to create a place where women returning home would not have to navigate reentry alone, but could find culturally connected support, guidance, resources, and a community committed to helping them move forward. This project is now in August of 2026 almost completed and we hope to be able to open its doors in Fall of…

Our Mother's Day program is held within the women's facility at MDC Los Angeles and serves women throughout the unit, including mothers as well as women who may not have children but are often experiencing isolation from family and community. Moms Love Forever provides a special lunch and a day centered around dignity, self-esteem, and human connection. Professional hair and makeup artists from the entertainment industry volunteer their services, providing hair, makeup, and other personal-care services. For mothers, one of the most meaningful components is the opportunity to take professional photographs to send home to their children and families. We provide clothing for the photographs so participants can be photographed as themselves rather than in institutional uniforms. The program reminds women that incarceration does not erase their identity as mothers, daughters, sisters, or members of a family and community. LA females served: approximately 125

Typically, approximately 40-50 children participate with their incarcerated mothers and approximately 25 children participate with their incarcerated fathers (appx 15 moms; 10 dads). Children receive new backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming school year. We provide a catered family meal, arts and crafts activities, and professional family photographs and photo booths so parents and children can create and preserve positive memories together. Beyond providing school supplies, the program is designed to reinforce the parent-child relationship and allow incarcerated parents to remain emotionally connected to important milestones in their children's lives. Appx 100 people in LA served.

Moms Love Forever creates a traditional family holiday celebration inside the facility, including gifts for children and parents, a special holiday meal, arts and crafts, storytelling with Santa Claus, and family photographs. The program gives children an opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their parent and helps families create positive memories during a period that might otherwise be defined by separation and loss. Typically, approximately 40-50 children participate with their incarcerated mothers and approximately 25 children participate with their incarcerated fathers , in addition to the participating parents (appx 15 moms; 10 dads). 100 individuals in LA served appx and in Hawaii, we service appx 100 other mothers incarcerated at both FDC Honolulu and WCCC (Hawaii state Women's Prison)

As Founder of Moms Love Forever, I am regularly invited to speak with incarcerated individuals about hope, preparing for life after incarceration, rebuilding family relationships, navigating re-entry, and creating a productive life after release. These programs allow us to reach individuals beyond those participating in our family events and reinforce our larger mission: helping people maintain meaningful family connections during incarceration while preparing them to successfully return to their families and communities.
