What Moab Solutions Inc does
Mission
The mission of moab solutions is to reduce and eliminate the waste of materials and human potential while nurturing the well-being of the natural world. We protect and restore natural areas, help the homeless help themselves, and promote the benefits of respect, rethink, reduce, reuse, and recycle practices. At our core is a deep respect for and love of the natural world, and all lives that depend on it.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
Environmental stewardship: moab solutions conducts several types of inter-related environmental projects including: (1) recycling collection, promotion, and education, (2) litter clean-ups in town, in parks, and in the beautiful canyons surrounding moab, and (3) ecological restoration in canyons, streams and other habitats and recreational areas.
$118,766 spent67% of program spendingHomeless assistance: moab solutions offers a variety of services to people in need in our community, including the homeless. We primarily provide referrals to local social service agencies, through our street-level outreach. When direct financial resources are required, we activate our emergency needs fund, a separate account that deals with emergency needs and takes requests from law enforcement, non-profits, agencies, churches and individuals. Some examples of services provided include: (1) camp cleanups to improve living conditions, and foster relationships that lead to social services, (2) training in recycling sorting: pride and job skills are promoted by teaching the homeless to sort and maintain recycling, and (3) social services & direct assistance: connecting the indigent with shelter, medical care, rehab, and job training.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2020 to 2021, from $74k to $126k (+70%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
98% of Moab Solutions Inc’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (62% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 2 of the last 9 reported years ran a deficit.
Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 4 funders, grant income rose $5k → $36k.
1 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 13% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
Moab Solutions Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 45% of grant income and the top three 83%; half comes from just 2 funders.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 100% · 2018 54% · 2019 71% · 2020 52% · 2021 53% · 2022 38% · 2023 39% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
Moab Solutions Inc draws 69% of its grant income from funders outside Utah, across 3 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $31k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
