Programs
UWEU administers a program called LIVE.LOVE.LOCAL which offers financial support to people in our communities who have been diagnosed with cancer. Accessing cancer treatment often means driving an hour or more to Provo or Salt Lake City, as we lack cancer treatment centers here in rural Eastern Utah; gas quickly becomes expensive. Last year, we gave gas cards to at least 35 community members, amounts ranging from $50-500. With sustained funding, this program continues to serve even more people.
$24,331 spent39% of program spendingIn our "Soles2Souls" program, we purchase or collect new shoes and distribute them to school children in our area. Teachers or counselors call us to request shoes for a child in need, and we deliver. It's difficult for children to concentrate at school with cold or aching feet, or with tattered shoes - and we work to help kids make the most of their time at school. We've given away thousands of pairs of shoes in the past 5+ years to children who need them. We have also started doing shoe pop-ups.

Angel Tree: Low-income families apply to receive gifts. These families are matched with entities who donate gifts to them. United Way also connects these families with needed resources focusing on reducing intergenerational poverty. Community Relief Funds: This consists of small as-needed community requests and also acts as a pseudo-replacement for the Deseret Industries voucher program. Walmart dontated pallets of unsold clothing that were given to people in need through this program as well. Youth Scholarships/Endowment Fund: United Way awards scholarships to qualifying high school seniors to be used for college/university costs. This was the last year of doing these because of the endowment. Community Solutions: This was money given to the HOPE Walk (local suicide awareness walk) and the local food bank for holiday turkeys.
$8,654 spent14% of program spendingEach fall, we host a community cleanup day called Day of Caring. Folks submit projects to be completed, and we match volunteers with these projects. Volunteers pick up trash, clean gutters, rake yards, beautify public spaces, plant flowers, repair elderly neighbors' fences, and so on. Our goal is to inspire kindness and service and to encourage year-round service to one another.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $283k to $189k (−33%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
95% of United Way of Eastern Utah’s revenue is contributions — about as donation-reliant as the typical peer (100% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 3 funders, grant income rose $8k → $25k.
2 of 8 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 29% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of United Way of Eastern Utah’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
United Way of Eastern Utah leans on a few funders — its largest provides 38% of grant income and the top three 78%; half comes from just 2 funders.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
67% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund United Way of Eastern Utah.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 100% · 2018 55% · 2020 46% · 2021 64% · 2022 59% · 2023 47% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How long its funders stay
29% of United Way of Eastern Utah's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 63% give in more than one year at all.
Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.
Where its funders are
United Way of Eastern Utah draws 70% of its grant income from funders outside Utah, across 5 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $45k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
