What Mission Mutual does
Mission
Equipping mission, ministry, and philanthropic organizations (of similar vision) with the organizational and relational perspective needed to accelerate and enhance their collective impact. Mission Mutual exists to provide centralized support and coordination to groups moving from acting alone to acting in concert with one another. Dedicated team members strategize with each participating group to increase organization effectiveness and health, providing insight into the organizational development and relational perspective needed to align vision, mission, approach, and resources. As a backbone organization uniquely positioned in the missiological, ministerial, and philanthropic space, Mission Mutual exists to weave together likeminded organizations and position them for greater impact. Since no single organization or program can solve the most complex problems facing humanity by themselves, we help intra-sector groups prioritize a common agenda, identify shared goals, and direct resou
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Program
Although the market for backbone/collective impact services spans multiple sectors of mission and ministry, god is demonstrating these presenting realities, the context of service, and a readiness for next stage development through the every tribe every nation (eten) alliance. The eten alliance is committed to an "all access goal" that envisions: 95% of the world's population with a full bible, 99.96% of the world's population with at least a new testament, and 100% of the world's population with at least some portion of god's word accessible to them in a language and format they understand best. 2 full bible translations will be available in the worlds most strategic 100 written languages. (based on number of speakers). The alliance is currently comprised of 10 implementing partners and 5 resource partners with momentum and vision for exponential collaboration, acceleration, and impact across the bible translation movement. Mission Mutual currently directs backbone services to the eten alliance (and respective direct and indirect partner organizations) which is a leading expression of current realities (missiologic/philanthropic) and context of service (deep collaboration), and…

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2018, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2018, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2021 to 2022, from $1.5M to $3.2M (+115%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
97% of MISSION MUTUAL’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (97% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 4 funders, grant income rose $73k → $21M.
5 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of MISSION MUTUAL’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 6 of 7 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
MISSION MUTUAL leans on a few funders — its largest provides 57% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund MISSION MUTUAL.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2018 100% · 2019 100% · 2020 100% · 2021 65% · 2022 73% · 2023 85% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of MISSION MUTUAL's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $2k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside Texas, across 1 state.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $82M arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
