Mission

Our mission to alleviate childhood hunger by providing mutritous weekend food bags to students experiencing food insecurity. We strive to ensure that every child in our community has the nourishment they need to thrive, learn and grow regardless of their circumstances. Through compassion, collaboration, and a commitment to serving those in need, we aim to build a brighter future for the youth in far southwest virginia.

Program

  1. Luncbox276 is a community-driven weekend food program dedicated to addressing child food insecurity across Southwest Virginia. Through strong partnerships with local schools, the program provides discreet, reliable access to food for students who may otherwise go without meals when school is not in session. Each week, students receive a bag of easy-to-prepare, shelf-stable food designed to sustain them through the weekend. By working directly with school staff, Lunchbox276 is able to identify and serve students with the greatest need, ensuring that support reaches those who are most vulnerable.During the 20252026 school year, Lunchbox276 distributed 39,697 weekend food bags to students across sixteen schools in Wise County, Dickenson County, and the City of Norton. School partners continue to identify increased need among middle and high school students, reinforcing the need to expand services to approximately 1,500 students each week.

How concentrated its funding is

LUNCHBOX 276 leans on a few funders — its largest provides 60% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund LUNCHBOX 276.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $68 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
