01What it does

What Horse Feathers Equine Center Inc does

Mission

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome horses in need, providing them with a safe haven and compassionate care that restores their health and spirit. We are dedicated to promoting responsible horse ownership, advancing public education on equine welfare, and building a community that honors the bond between humans and horses.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Supplies - in addition to regular maintenance, capital improvements provide increased safety and security for volunteers, staff, and horses. Property maintenance and medical supplies provide a clean environment and better treatment options for barn management.

    $41,521 spent
    36% of program spending
  2. Vet and Farrier Care - horses that have chronic and acute health conditions require treatment and monitoring. Periodic health assessments will prevent subsequent expensive treatments; however, at times, emergency veterinary services are required to address critical cases.

    $21,933 spent
    19% of program spending
  3. Feed and Training - grain, supplements, and quality hay provide management of weight, tone, and overall health of all equines at the facility. Horses in good physical condition are trained to provide more attractive prospects for potential adoptions. Training of staff and leadership is an important component of the high standards of operational and financial transparency in the organization.

    $35,153 spent
    31% of program spending
  4. Other - auto and equipment expenses related to equine transport and supplies procurement, and volunteer event costs represent the remaining portion of the program service expenses.

    $15,538 spent
    14% of program spending

The 4 programs described on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ. Program spending in total: $114,145.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2019 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 4 funders, grant income rose $1k → $73k.

3 of 9 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 4% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $14k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
