What Harmony Farm Sanctuary does

Mission

Harmony Farm Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that rescues and rehabilitates farmed animals, fosters a compassionate and inclusive community, and advocates for the humane treatment of animals, recognizing them as sentient beings who deserve kindness and respect.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. In 2025, Harmony Farm Sanctuary made significant strides in our mission to protect and advocate for farmed animals. We partnered with the local sheriff's department in the rescue of 47 animals from neglect, placing 22 in our sanctuary and securing safe homes for the others. Our compassionate curriculum ran throughout the 20242025 school year, engaging approximately 50 youth each weekincluding at-risk teens and individuals with developmental disabilitiesoffering meaningful connection, education, and healing through the power of animals. With the help of 60 dedicated volunteers supporting care shifts twice daily, we ensured exceptional, individualized care for our 155 rescued residents. We proudly achieved accreditation from the global federation of animal sanctuaries, a testament to our high standards of care and operations. We also hosted educational tours and community events, continuing to grow awareness of the sentience of farmed animals and the importance of compassion for all.

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income rose $1k → $39k.

5 of 8 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 98% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of HARMONY FARM SANCTUARY’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

HARMONY FARM SANCTUARY leans on a few funders — its largest provides 47% of grant income and the top three 87%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

98% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund HARMONY FARM SANCTUARY.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

50% of HARMONY FARM SANCTUARY's funders are still giving 2 years after their first grant; 75% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Where its funders are

98% of HARMONY FARM SANCTUARY's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $4k that is directly attributable, 50% of it comes from funders outside Oregon, across 3 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $202k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
