As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Farmers market at hamakua harvest. We have 16 vendors offering fresh locally grown produce, value-added products, and ono food. 2. Hamakua harvest's demonstration farm and orchard encompass a three-acre diversified farming system, modeling the most economically and environmentally viable crops for the hamakua region. Proven, innovative techniques will be used to demonstrate a variety of sustainable agriculture practices, as well as practical business methods to help local family farms succeed in today's market. The demonstration farm and orchard will integrate hands-on learning opportunities for all skill levels, while supplying healthy, fresh, local produce for residents.

  3. Hamakua harvest is partnering with the hamakua youth foundation in this innovative, hands-on, youth development and education program that will provide local youth with an outdoor classroom for learning about agriculture and food production, entrepreneurship, and sustainable land management. The organization is in the process of expanding the program to give residents the chance to purchase fresh, healthy produce through a farm-share model where interested consumers can sign up to receive a box of seasonal produce each week.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2022: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income rose $25k → $28k.

1 of 5 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 5% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of HAMAKUA HARVEST INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $5k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
