What Habitat for Humanity Sarpy County Inc does
Mission
Habitat omaha brings people together to build homes and communities in a five-county area of eastern nebraska through its mission: we build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. All habitat omaha services are provided regardless of income, race, religion, age, or gender.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
Habitat omaha's homeownership program provides first-time homeownership opportunities to economically disadvantaged families, whose income is generally 30% to 80% of the area median. By using the labor of volunteers and prospective homeowners, employing efficient building methods, keeping house sizes modest, and using donated construction materials and appliances, habitat omaha makes its houses affordable for low-income families to purchase. During 2024, individuals, corporations, and faith partners worked 39,157 volunteer hours to help lower construction labor and building costs. Additionally, habitat omaha helped five sarpy county partner families achieve homeownership in 2024. There is a critical need for, and shortage of, affordable housing in sarpy county and in many parts of nebraska. Habitat omaha addresses this need by building and revitalizing neighborhoods. Affordable homeownership helps create the conditions that free families from instability, stress and fear and encourages self-reliance and confidence. Studies show that strong and stable households are foundational to child development and growth. When a home fosters health and safety - instead of hinders - families…

We partner with families to help them reclaim their homes with pride and dignity. The program allows families to stay in their home and avoid the uncertainty, trauma and expense of moving. Projects consist of interior and/or exterior repairs intended to alleviate critical health, life and safety issues or code violations. Volunteer teams work along with subcontractors under the direction of habitat omaha staff members to complete the repairs. In 2024, habitat omaha served 8 local homeowners, under this program.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $4.0M to $0 (−100%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2020 3% · 2021 0% · 2022 14% · 2023 14% · 2024 15%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base narrowed from 3 funders to 2 funders, grant income rose $44k → $50k.
3 of 5 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 24% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SARPY COUNTY INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SARPY COUNTY INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 72% of grant income and the top three 99%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SARPY COUNTY INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 66% · 2018 95% · 2019 50% · 2020 87% · 2021 100% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — growing more concentrated.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SARPY COUNTY INC draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside Nebraska, across 2 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $71k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
