01What it does

What Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York does

Mission

Girl scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. The girls scout leadership experience (gsle) - girls lead their own adventures and team up with their sister girl scouts in an all-girl environment to choose exciting, hands-on activities. This unique process helps girls unlock the leader within. The gsle focuses on four pillars: outdoors, stem, life skills, and entrepreneurship. There were 2,965 participants in council led programs and camp in fy25.

  2. The girl scout camp program and outdoor experience - spending time in nature, whether hanging from a climbing wall or taking a walk in the woods, has been linked with better mental, emotional, and physical health. Girls unplug as they step outside of their comfort zone and create lifelong friendships, without gender bias. Council led programs are offered year-round at gsneny's five camp properties, and a combination of day and residential summer camp programs are offered at three properties

  3. Volunteer development and support- as girl scouts explore their strengths, take on new challenges, and discover their authentic selves, they do so with the support of trusted adult volunteers and mentors. Volunteers participate in training sessions with council staff that equip them to deliver the girl scout leadership experience. They serve as troop leaders, cookie program managers, and in many other roles. In fy25, volunteer services offered trainings to our council's 1,908 volunteers.

Who funds it, year by year

3 of 19 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 2% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $37k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
