01What it does

What Enveritas Inc does

Mission

To work for farmers who lack access to existing supply chain certification or verification options due to the limited size of their landholdings, lack of organization, remoteness, or other reasons. By providing a solution, smallholder farmers gain additional opportunities to participate in a global sustainable coffee industry, including a path to improved farming practices that protect the environment, safeguard human rights, and ensure a sustainable future.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. Enveritas Inc. Provides sustainability verification services to coffee and cocoa producing communities around the world. The organization conducts independent field assessments to evaluate the environmental, social, and economic conditions of smallholder coffee farms. Using technology such as satellite imagery and mobile data collection, enveritas measures issues including deforestation, child labor, pesticide use, and sustainable production, without charging farmers for participation.the data gathered are analyzed to identify systemic challenges in the coffee and cocoa sector and to help companies, donors, and partners implement more effective poverty-reduction and sustainability programs. Enveritas collaborates with international coffee roasters, cooperatives, and local organizations to strengthen sustainable sourcing practices and improve farmer livelihoods. In 2024, enveritas operated in more than 30 coffee-producing countries and completed over 90,000 farm verifications. As part of the responsibly sourced commitment, roaster partners are required by enveritas to support farmers directly. This translated to 276,000 farmers supported in 22 countries, across 123 projects.…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income rose $50k → $167k.

2 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 23% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of ENVERITAS INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

ENVERITAS INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 77% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ENVERITAS INC.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 100% · 2021 100% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — broadly stable.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

ENVERITAS INC draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside New York, across 1 state in all.

DC

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $50k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
