01What it does

What Embracing Freedom Ministry does

Mission

Embracing Freedom Ministry is a christ-based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded to respond to the heart breaking epidemic of child sex trafficking. We hope to provide a safe environment for rehabilitation and healing for adolescent victims of sex trafficking.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Embracing Freedom Ministry is a faith-based organization in southeast texas founded in 2010 to respond to the heartbreaking epidemic of child sex trafficking. Embracing Freedom Ministry is an organization that provides advocacy to children who are recovered from sex trafficking situations, who are flagged by law enforcement or other organizations as possible trafficking victims, or who are at a high risk of becoming trafficked. Embracing freedom provides numerous services to victims and to local agencies. Interventions allow families to safely and gently address a child who is suspected of being a victum of trafficking. Embracing freedom child advocates function as facilitators and mediators between the family and the child, as well as educating the child about what child sex trafficking looks like. Frequently, these children do not understand that is what is happening to them is trafficking, so this information is extremely important in helping the child self-identify as a victum, thereby making them more amenable to accepting assistance. Embracing freedom advocates also mentor child victims as a part of advocacy, closely following the child's journey from beginning to end.…

  2. Embracing freedom also provides an extensive public awareness campaign. Advocates and volunteers have provided training at a number of local organizations including law enforcement agencies, fire stations, hospitals, social service centers, churches, schools, and state representative staff. These trainings and public appearances provide attendees with information on sex trafficking, what it looks like, how to identify it, how to respond, and prevention strategies. Each appearance is tailored to the needs of attendees.

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 4 funders, grant income rose $6k → $100k.

4 of 12 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 21% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of EMBRACING FREEDOM MINISTRY’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

EMBRACING FREEDOM MINISTRY leans on a few funders — its largest provides 32% of grant income and the top three 70%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

26% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund EMBRACING FREEDOM MINISTRY.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $64k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
