Mission

The preservation and protection of elephants and rhinos in the wild through poverty alleviation. See schedule o, statement .05 for additional information.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. The majestic arrival of 11 rhinos expanding our conservation efforts melorane game reserve from the beloved viewpoint erp.ngo in 2024, our game reserve continued to thrive, offering a safe and protected environment for wildlife. This year, we experienced a deeper connection with the erp game reserve and rhinos that roam it, with no poaching incidents reported on the reserve. Our anti-poaching efforts have created a haven where animals roam freely, reflecting the peace that comes from strong, sustainable protection. Erp has successfully relocated 11 rhinos from a reserve where the threat of poaching put their survival at risk. Now, they roam freely in a protected environment, adding to a growing population safeguarded by erps conservation efforts. Rhino numbers under erps protection have steadily increased, ensuring a more secure future for the species. This achievement didnt come without hurdles. Weeks of planning, preparation, and collaboration would not have been able to come to life if it wasnt for the support of our generous donors and the group elephant 1% contribution. Standing on the reserve that morning, it was clear: every effort was worth it.

  2. Soaring toward a new horizon erp. Ngo thomas b. Haines for erp air wing erp took significant strides in establishing its air wing, laying the groundwork for a fleet of small airplanes dedicated to anti-poaching patrols and wildlife monitoring in this sparsely populated country. These airplanes will provide eyes in the sky, helping erp protect wildlife across the vast expanses of wilderness more effectively. The vision is taking flight, and 2025 promises to see the first airplanes in the fleet.

  3. The basebo training institute offers the end user computing program, funded by the melorane trust, to empower youth from rural villages represented by the barokologadi communal property association (bcpa). Launched in 2021, this mictseta-accredited programme provides learners with a strong foundation in it, focusing on end user computing skills essential for todays digital world. As part of a long-term partnership between bcpa and erp, the programme equips young people with a recognised qualification in it, opening doors to career opportunities. Learners gain not only technical skills but also problem-solving and innovation abilities, preparing them for success in the tech industry or in starting their own businesses. Through supporting the basebo training institute and related projects, the melorane trust fosters economic growth and sustainability in rural communities, bridging the skills gap and helping young people thrive in a digital world.

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income fell $65k → $50k.

4 of 6 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 27% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of ELEPHANTS RHINOS & PEOPLE’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

ELEPHANTS RHINOS & PEOPLE leans on a few funders — its largest provides 73% of grant income and the top three 94%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ELEPHANTS RHINOS & PEOPLE.
