01What it does

What Drawn to Help Inc does

Mission

Drawn To Help was created to supplement existing art programs at hospitals camps and treatment facilities around the country. We help arrange visits by successful cartoonists and talented artists who want to have their own tremendous impact on the lives of these children. Our volunteers do bedside visits with pediatric patients and provide group sessions with children whose conditions allow them to participate in a more social setting. Our lessons are tailored to fit the abilities and needs of each child making it as easy and fun as possible for them.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Drawn to Helps volunteers continued our mission to take free cartoon drawing lessons art supplies and fun toys to children in hospitals and at camps for kids who are battling life threatening medical challenges. We did in person visits at multiple locations and remote broadcasts to young patients in their hospital rooms. We also expanded our outreach to the childrens hospital in Detroit for the first time.

  2. Drawn to Help expanded our outreach to include relief efforts in Western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene decimated the area. In conjunction with other organizations Drawn to Help provided food clothing heaters and propane to survivors of the storm as well as other supplies that were needed by victims of the flooding that occurred here.

  3. Drawn to Help provided large quantities of books art supplies and therapeutic programs for children and some adults in areas hit hardest by Hurricane Helene. Libraries and schools were shut down for months after the storm hit and we wanted to help kids be able to continue to learn and help them improve their literacy. Our programs also helped lift their spirits and experience a bit of a return of normalcy to their lives.

Each line starts at 100 in 2024, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2024, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.

3 of 4 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 70% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Drawn to Help Inc’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

Drawn to Help Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 43% of grant income and the top three 99%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Drawn to Help Inc.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 53% · 2021 100% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — growing more concentrated.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

70% of Drawn to Help Inc's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $6k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside North Carolina, across 1 state.

NY

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $13k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
