01What it does

What Donum Dei Classical Academy does

Mission

Donum dei equips students to be virtuous scholars and servant-leaders who are known, loved, and formed through a rigorous classical, christ-centered education grounded in biblical truth.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Grammar school - the grammar school at donum dei focuses on both student development and curricular practices as we seek to nourish the minds, hearts, and bodies of our youngest learners. Beginning with 1st grade and extending through 5th grade, students are taught the fundamental rules and core knowledge of each subject using classical christian education pedagogy.

  2. Early childhood education - the early childhood education program (transitional kindergarten and kindergarten) lays foundations through classical christian pedagogy. We nurture young minds with rich literature, sensory experiences, and playful discovery that honor each child's natural curiosity. Students engage with foundational knowledge through songs, movement, and hands-on activities, cultivating wonder and joy in learning. In these formative years, we emphasize character virtues within a christ-centered environment that prepares students for both academic success and spiritual growth.

  3. Logic school - the logic school (6th-8th grades) at donum dei is a spiritually robust and academically rigorous program designed for middle school students. The logic phase of classical education is where students begin to use reason to make sense of their knowledge and experiences. Moving on from the songs and chants that are used as tools to commit knowledge to memory during the grammar phase, students begin to engage in socratic discussions and debate, and most importantly, turn toward wonder about the things they are learning. We help guide students as they develop that sense of wonder and grow their ability to develop sound reasoning based on what they know of god's truth.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 3 funders, grant income rose $52k → $503k.

5 of 6 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 93% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of DONUM DEI CLASSICAL ACADEMY’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

DONUM DEI CLASSICAL ACADEMY leans on a few funders — its largest provides 43% of grant income and the top three 90%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund DONUM DEI CLASSICAL ACADEMY.

effective funders

Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 100% · 2021 54% · 2022 48% · 2023 98% — diversifying over time.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

93% of DONUM DEI CLASSICAL ACADEMY's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $100k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from California funders.

CA

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $1.3M arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
