01What it does

What Champs Heart Inc does

Mission

Champ's heart is an equine-based ministry offering children with limited abilities, veterans of war, and their families the opportunity to feel safe while connecting with horses, and experience well-being and independence in a welcoming environment.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. Champ's heart board and other leading volunteers clocked more than 10,000 hours. We've trained more than 300 new and existing volunteers to skillfully handle the horses while serving children and veterans with a variety of unique needs and challenges. In 2024, champ's heart served many veterans, each of whom had various needs, but all shared one thing in common - the lasting impact that war has had on their lives, and the negative effect it has had on their emotions, casuing anxiety, stress, and relational difficulties.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2021 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 5 funders, grant income rose $25k → $32k.

3 of 13 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 13% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $30k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
