As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. This organization serves families facing cancer through a variety of programs that are complementary to medical treatment. Programs include monthly and weekly support groups for cancer patients and their caregivers. Healthy living and stress reduction classes, including gentle exercise, yoga, music, art, nutrition, cooking and mindfulness, are also offered. A wide range of educational classes on managing cancer along with social activities are offered throughout the year. Programs are available for children who have a parent, grandparent, sibling, or other family member with cancer. All services are led by professionals, offered free of charge, and are designed to enhance physical and emotional well-being as well as improve quality of life. Cscet programs are evidenced-based and recognized by the national institutes of medicine, who have documented that complementary care is a "necessary and integral component of quality cancer care." covid-19 necessitated new ways of offering programs. Since march 2020, all programs have been offered in a virtual format. In 2022, the organization began hybrid programming, allowing members to participate in person or virtually.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 5 funders to 9 funders, grant income rose $197k → $237k.

7 of 22 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 89% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY EAST TENNESSEE INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 83% of grant income and the top three 89%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

97% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY EAST TENNESSEE INC.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $3.3M arriving through sponsors registered in 6 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
