What Blossom IDD Inc does

Mission

Blossom IDD is a place where adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) can receive the resources they need to live a full, independent, blossoming life.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2024 return the organization reported starting a significant new program.

All three of our programs were lumped together as one program on our 2023 return, but we are breaking them out on our 2024 return.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 2).

  1. Travel & Transportation - New experiences are a catalyst for change within the lives of people living with IDD (Intellectual and Development Disabilities), so we seek to provide new experiences through travel & transportation for people living with IDD. In 2024, we provided 2 travel & transportation experiences to 28 people living with IDD.

  2. Local Community Connection - New experiences are a catalyst for change within the lives of people living with IDD, so we seek to provide new experiences through community connections for people living with IDD. In 2024, we provided local 120 local community connection events to 837 people living with IDD.

  3. Resource Sharing - We seek to make our IDD community aware of the resources available to them within the Milwaukee area, so we are regularly and intentionally making our community aware of existing and new resources available to people living with IDD by compiling and sharing with our IDD community what these resources are.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2022 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 4 funders, grant income rose $2k → $11k.

5 of 11 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 74% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Blossom IDD Inc’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

Blossom IDD Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 43% of grant income and the top three 72%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

74% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Blossom IDD Inc.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2022 97% · 2023 65% — diversifying over time.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

74% of Blossom IDD Inc's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $37k that is directly attributable, 54% of it comes from Wisconsin funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $105k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
