01What it does

What Blanket America Ministries Inc does

Mission

To reach out to the spiritually lost, the poor and down-trodden with material support but also with acts of true christian love and caring that will show them the love of jesus christ and with bibles that will reveal to them god's saving grace and his will for their lives. In november 2021, due to the aging of the equipment and our group of volunteers, we ceased collecting and distributing used goods and began to solely be a source for and distributor of bibles. We distribute bibles to all we encounter whether locally to individuals encountered along life's way, to churches or to other organizations ministering to the needs of the general population. Currently most bibles are packaged and mailed to prison inmates in arizona, new mexico, texas, north and south carolina, virginia and indiana.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. 1-continued a program of providing bibles free of charge to those near and far including those who are incarcerated. 2-continued our effort to help relieve the abject poverty of many in the central appalachia area by providing handmade blankets several times during the year.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base narrowed from 2 funders to 1 funder, grant income fell $300 → $58.

2 of 5 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 3% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of BLANKET AMERICA MINISTRIES INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

BLANKET AMERICA MINISTRIES INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 80% of grant income and the top three 98%; half comes from just 1 funder.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 67% · 2020 100% · 2021 100% · 2022 96% · 2023 100% — growing more concentrated.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $407 arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
