01What it does

What 2-6 Project Limited does

Mission

Founded by grant bennett in 2020 at the height of covid-19, the two-six project was born from a deep passion for community and a bold vision for a brighter future. By connecting young entrepreneurs, creatives, and athletes with youth from marginalized backgrounds, the organization quickly became a powerful catalyst for change in bennetts hometown of fayetteville, north carolina. Through grassroots programming, strategic partnerships, and collaborations with influential organizations like google, microsoft, dreamville, and the nba, the two-six project has evolved into a vital resource for marginalized youth across the southeast. Led by a dynamic team of young professionals, the project is empowering the next generation of leaders through innovative, community-driven initiatives.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. The emerging leaders program is the two six project s flagship youth development initiative designed to expose underrepresented high school students to career pathways in technology creativity and business. The program connects students with industry professionals through experiential learning opportunities including travel experiences and mentorship engagements that broaden their exposure to real-world careers they may not otherwise encounter. During the program year elp hosted more than 20 sessions giving students consistent and structured access to professional development opportunities. This work is made possible entirely through the dedication of the two six project s volunteer staff each of whom individually contributed more than 100 hours of service this year to ensure every student has access to the guidance and opportunities they deserve. The program s success is measured by the breadth of career awareness built among participants and the meaningful relationships formed between students and professionals in high-growth industries laying a foundation for future academic and professional pursuits.

  2. Steam scholars is a hands-on science and technology enrichment program serving underrepresented youth in cumberland county with a focus on robotics design building and engineering. Students meet twice monthly for structured sessions where they develop critical thinking collaboration and problem-solving skills through the process of constructing and programming robots. As part of the organization s broader reach of more than 500 students served this year steam scholars gives participants direct exposure to stem disciplines in a practical engaging environment. The program s success lies in its ability to make complex technical concepts accessible and exciting for young people who are historically underrepresented in stem fields.

  3. Readers 4 leaders is a literacy-focused program serving third grade students across cumberland county elementary schools with the goal of improving reading proficiency during one of the most critical developmental windows in a child s academic journey. Research consistently shows that students who are not reading at grade level by the end of third grade are significantly less likely to graduate high school making early literacy intervention a high-impact area of focus. This past program year readers 4 leaders achieved meaningful gains in literacy rates across cumberland county demonstrating the program s direct and measurable impact on the communities it serves.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2021 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 3 funders, grant income rose $39k → $99k.

1 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 71% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of 2-6 PROJECT LIMITED’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

2-6 PROJECT LIMITED leans on a few funders — its largest provides 71% of grant income and the top three 86%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

80% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund 2-6 PROJECT LIMITED.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

71% of 2-6 PROJECT LIMITED's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $121k that is directly attributable, 79% of it comes from funders outside North Carolina, across 4 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $290k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
