What Youth in Transformation Inc does
Mission
The mission of Youth in Transformation is to see generations of young people equipped with the resources they need to succeed in their education and to go on and realize a better future, bringing lasting transformation to Africa and beyond.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
Education must adapt to create the right learning platform to prepare young people for work in the age of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Learners need to be equipped in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths, + it goes beyond just content. Leaners also need to be coached and mentored to become confident, generous, resilient and loving members of our global society. We need young people who don?t just get good Maths marks, but who use their education to build a more inclusive and sustainable world. We currently run two programs within the STEAM+ project. The first is a Maths & Science program, and the second a Robotics program. ?We currently have over 200 kids in this project who each receive 6 hours of tutoring per week.

Pairing a Scholarship with mentorship and development opportunities, the Butterfly Project aims to create an environment where young girls can realise their potential and equip them with the resources and opportunities needed to achieve that potential. Beginning in the Foundation Phase of learning, the Butterfly Project aims to create solid foundations for holistic success in education as well as other areas of life. The Foundation phase is a significant education milestone that sets up a person for the rest of their educational journey by creating the foundation for literacy, numeracy, and thinking skills. In South Africa, a girl?s chance of completing school is about 30%, yet with input in the early years before Grade 4, research indicates the success rates increase dramatically. It is our hope to help improve these girls? foundational skills so that they can succeed in school.

The aim is to provide a holistic, well-rounded education offering the opportunity for learners to experience a safe and secure environment in which they can participate in a school which exposes them to academic development, a variety of sports, cultural expression and community service. It was named in honor of Buntu Majalaza who was the first in his family to complete High School and University. Buntu tragically passed away in 2008, but even in the short time that he was on earth, he left a lasting legacy with every person with whom he came into contact. He was a hard working person of character, resilience, and carried an attitude of service into every pursuit.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2022, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2022, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $14k to $27k (+99%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
100% of Youth in Transformation Inc’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (91% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2020 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income rose $19 → $8k.
3 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

How concentrated its funding is
Youth in Transformation Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 67% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Youth in Transformation Inc.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 100% · 2021 100% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of Youth in Transformation Inc's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $26k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
