01What it does

What Wide Open the Brody Hills Foundatio does

Mission

Wide open: the brody hills foundation is a wyoming-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering mental resilience, self-care, and peer support among teens through dirt biking and outdoor adventures by providing opportunities for growth, mentorship, and connection. Our programs are designed to equip teens with the tools and skills needed to navigate current and future challenges, ensuring that each participant builds lasting relationships and becomes part of a supportive community.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. This year was one of meaningful growth for our foundation. In february we brought approximately 30 youth to st. George to participate in a riding clinic led by three professional riders. They all left with increased confidence, improved skills, and a deeper understanding of what it means to rely on a group when times get tough. Throughout the clinic, we reinforced the message at the heart of our foundation; don't let the hard days win. Over the summer, we hosted a local clinic in the gros ventre area where about 10 youth learned to ride and we took 20 youth to the monster energy supercross finals in salt lake city. Thanks to monster energy cares, our group was granted track access before the race, giving these kids a once- in-a-lifetime experience and exposure to the professional side of the sport. This summer also marked the start of our weekly rides, which have become the core of what the brody hills foundation is all about. These consistent opportunities allow youth to build real skills, develop confidence, and form bonds that carry far beyond the trail. Learning how to face challenges on a bike translates directly to how they face challenges in life--and the growth we've seen…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

Grant support over time, funder by funder — shade shows the grant size each year.

1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 59% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of WIDE OPEN THE BRODY HILLS FOUNDATIO’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

WIDE OPEN THE BRODY HILLS FOUNDATIO leans on a few funders — its largest provides 59% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

59% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund WIDE OPEN THE BRODY HILLS FOUNDATIO.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Where its funders are

59% of WIDE OPEN THE BRODY HILLS FOUNDATIO's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $25k that is directly attributable, 80% of it comes from Wyoming funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $36k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
