01What it does

What Vienna Jammers Percussion Ensemble Inc does

Mission

The Vienna Jammers' mission is to educate youth through unique percussion programs, provide a dynamic and diverse experience in the performing arts, nurture the creativity of each child, and enrich the lives within the community. We have been able to resume our planning in our strategic plan after getting back to full staff from last season.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. EDUCATION: Jammers Camps & Ensemble Rehearsals: The Jammers provided two weeks of instructional summer experience camps open to any student in the surrounding geographic area of Vienna. The Jammers also held weekly rehearsals for six permanent percussion ensembles: Jammers Black, Red, Green, White, Steel, and Advanced Steel. Jammers held monthly rehearsals for an adult group - Jammers Gold. In addition, Jammers held classes for the beginning tech group twice a month and the advanced tech group once a month.

  2. PUBLIC PERFORMANCES: During the season, the Jammers performed several pro bono performances for the general public. Highlights included performing at the Halloween Parade on the back of a flatbread trailer for over 10,000 local community members. Jammers Red and Black also traveled to Washington D.C. to perform at Union Stage on the Wharf to a sold-out audience for the second time. Jammers Steel and Advanced Steel performed for the Town of Vienna's Volunteer Reception hosted by the Mayor. All groups finished off their public performance by performing at Viva Vienna on Memorial Day to an estimated audience of 300.

  3. THE BIG JAM: Fourth season at Capital One Hall. This performance was the result of applying for and being accepted as one of the 30 non-profit performing arts groups in Fairfax County to be able to perform at this prestigious theater in the Tysons area. This 1500 seat auditorium is outfitted for professional touring groups and partnered with ArtsFairfax to allow a select number of non-profits to perform at a discounted rate. In addition to performing The Big Jam at Capital One Hall, the Jammers also featured Etienne Charles as the guest artist for the Big Jam. Etienne is a world renowned trumpeter and steel pan artist from Trinidad who is currently a professor of jazz studies at the University of Miami. The performance was successful, with over 850 tickets sold, and Jammers Tech/Advanced Tech students were able to work alongside professional counterparts.

1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 1% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Vienna Jammers Percussion Ensemble Inc’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

Vienna Jammers Percussion Ensemble Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 97% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

98% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Vienna Jammers Percussion Ensemble Inc.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $989 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
