  1. Criminal justice:sophia's criminal justice task force (cjtf) continues to advance meaningful conversations and action around justice reform in waukesha county and across the state of wisconsin. Meeting monthly, the group brings together community members who believe our justice system can be more fair and humane. The cjtf's work centers on three key goals: educating the public and faith communities about criminal justice reform, engaging legislators and other decision-makers through consistent issue-based communication, and building grassroots support that can sustain long-term change. One ongoing effort has been sending monthly letters to policymakers addressing issues such as diversion vs. Incarceration, solitary confinement, affordable family phone access for incarcerated individuals, and the importance of strong reentry support. Education and collaboration have also been a major part of this year's work. The task force hosted an inspiring educational event featuring talib akbar, who spoke about the realities and impact of solitary confinement. These accomplishments underscore sophia's commitment to promoting immigrant rights, fostering inclusivity, and advocating for policies that recognize the dignity and contributions of all individuals, regardless of immigration status.
