01What it does

What Rakhma Inc does

Mission

Rakhma champions dignity in the care of individuals living with memory loss in a familiar home environment.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. Rakhma provides compassionate, person-centered memory care in three licensed residential homes in minneapolis, st. Paul, and minnetonka. In the 2024 fiscal year, 40 residents and their families benefited from rakhma's social model of care, which emphasizes meaningful engagement, belonging, and dignity in a familiar home setting. Rakhma remains committed to serving individuals on medicaid: more than 80% of our residents receive care through government assistance, an exceptionally rare model in residential memory care, where providers often limit or exclude medicaid-supported residents. Rakhma maintains a 1:5 staffing ratio and delivers care through highly individualized routines and care plans. In its 40th year, rakhma completed major grant-funded projects, including a full first-floor renovation, dementia-friendly redesigns, new, beautification projects, a rebuilt deck, and wheelchair ramps. With over 120 outings offered annually, residents continue to participate in community life through trips to parks, lakes, concerts, and gardens. Rooted in love and dignity, rakhma continues to be a place where memory care feels like home: and where every person is seen, known, and cherished.

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 5 funders, grant income rose $2k → $23k.

1 of 9 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 0% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of RAKHMA INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 8 of 9 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

RAKHMA INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 31% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left

47% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund RAKHMA INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

71% of RAKHMA INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 78% give in more than one year at all.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $421 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
