What Power of Will Inc does
Mission
The mission of The Power of Will is simple - to support and enhance the lives of sarcoma patients and their loved ones. Established in honor of Will Hudson The Power of Will is on a steadfast pursuit to change the narrative for sarcoma patients.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
The Power of Will was established in honor of Will Hudson to support and enhance the lives of sarcoma patients and their loved ones. Will was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at the age of twenty and assumed an active role in his treatment plan. Like many adolescent and young adult cancer patients Wills quality of life was extremely important to him. Will worked closely with his oncology team to discuss what quality of life meant to him as a sarcoma patient in and out of treatment. Will enjoyed going to the movies and dining out with family and friends but his diagnosis did not pause the many expenses that come along with adulthood. Will received support from several foundations that helped him to continue doing the things he liked to do such as planning a fun date night as well as the things he had to do like filling up his gas tank or paying an unexpected medical bill. The Power of Will is dedicated to providing financial assistance to patients like Will so that they can achieve their own quality of life goals. The Power of Will awards up to quarterly Quality of Life Grants up to $500.

$19,850 spentof which $19,850 as grants39% of program spendingThere is a cure out there and we will not rest until we find it. For nearly 40 years standard of care therapy has not seen much change and progress has slowed with improving outcomes for patients. This has a lot to do with a lack of funding for sarcoma research. There are many doctors and scientists who devote much of their careers to this research but they rely on private foundations to fund these efforts. Will is our inspiration and our advocacy for improved treatment options did not end with his passing. At The Power of Will we are committed to finding better and less toxic treatments that may lead to possible cures through funding scientific research.
$5,250 spentof which $5,250 as grants10% of program spendingThe lack of education surrounding sarcomas is troublesome. This can present challenges for sarcoma detection and determining the appropriate diagnosis. The Power of Will is dedicated to spreading awareness through educational tools to gain exposure for this aggressive cancer. It is our hope that our outreach initiatives will result in earlier diagnoses and increased research funding.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $90k to $230k (+157%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
99% of POWER OF WILL INC’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (87% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2020 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income rose $5k → $6k.
1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 1% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

How concentrated its funding is
POWER OF WILL INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 99% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 100% · 2021 100% · 2022 99% · 2023 99% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of POWER OF WILL INC's grant income comes from Alabama funders.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $199 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
