What Nursing Heart Inc does
Mission
Our mission is to improve the health of underserved communities in guatemala and develop nurses to face global public health challenges by personalizing programs through trusted partnerships.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Programs
Community health worker - the community health worker (chw) program trains volunteers who are native to and residents of marginalized guatemalan communities where access to healthcare services is very low and where health education and prevention are critical challenges. 14 individuals have been trained and deployed through this program and collectively they conduct hundreds of home visits annually to detect and educate people on chronic disease management including high rates of diabetes and hypertension, as well as mental and maternal health needs. They also conduct community- wide health trainings and activities for leaders and heads of households with the goal of preventing, detecting and managing health in their villages.

Nursing heart facilitates general medicine clinics, cervical cancer clinics, school wellness clinics, and foot clinics for elderly and disabled patients in areas where access to basic, preventive healthcare services are severely limited by geographic, economic, cultural, gender, and political factors. These clinical activities not only serve to support the health of vulnerable guatemalan families, but also to train nurses from the united states to meet global health challenges by exposing them to different cultural practices around and social determinants of health.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2024 to 2025, from $288k to $408k (+42%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2021 6% · 2023 0% · 2024 0% · 2025 0%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
62% of NURSING HEART INC’s revenue is contributions — about as donation-reliant as the typical peer (91% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 5 funders, grant income rose $4k → $149k.
4 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 21% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

How concentrated its funding is
NURSING HEART INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 77% of grant income and the top three 93%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 100% · 2019 95% · 2020 100% · 2021 85% · 2022 79% · 2023 67% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
NURSING HEART INC draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside Minnesota, across 3 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $163k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
