Mission

The mission of mycatholicdoctor foundation (mcdf) is to answer the call of jesus christ in luke 10:9, when he said, "cure the sick who are there, and say to them, 'the kingdom of god has come near to you.'" by answering the call of jesus christ to heal the sick and proclaim the kingdom, we continue the healing ministry of jesus christ. We are a not-for-profit, faithful, roman catholic religious organization. We are listed in the official catholic directory and are committed to serving people of all faiths and creeds.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Contract services program: we hope to make catholic healthcare available to everyone. We provide the means for our clinical partners to succeed by offering an array of medical contract services geared specifically toward catholic healthcare according to our mission. Inthis manner, we act as a medical service organization. Our telehealth techology platform consists primarily of an electronic health record (ehr), a rapid access urgent care platform, online scheduling, hipaa-compliant group online workspace, website services, medical record electronic fax, and video call integration for telehealth. Our medical billing and collections service specializes in billing for culturally sensitive care from a roman catholic perspective. We also provide medical insurance contracting and negotiations, medical credentialing, setup of national lab accounts, new clinician training on technology platforms, accounting and tax services, and payroll services.

  2. One flesh initiative: the universal human experience of illness is a powerful time to recognize that 1) suffering is redemptive and an opportunity to grow in holiness, and 2) healing is a work of god, for which we can be grateful. All good things come from the lord. Through illness and healing the kingdom of god comes near to us. As healthcare professionals answering the call of jesus christ in luke 10:9, our job is to 1) provide state-of-the-art, effective, ethical medical care and 2) accompany patients in their suffering and healing, so that they recognize that in this time of sickness and healing, the kingdom of god has come near to them. We provide public education regarding catholic healthcare, including the benefits of uniquely catholic approaches to medical care, the moral and ethical teachings of the catholic church, the differences between secular and catholic healthcare, and access to catholic healthcare. Our education endeavors on catholic healthcare include grand rounds for clinicians, public webinars, the online magazine "catholic medical news and views", news releases, email newsletters and social media in support of catholic healthcare, public speaking at…

  3. Holy family initiative: everyone at mycatholicdoctor is asked to seek personal holiness and encouraged to cultivate a daily prayer life, to know, love, and serve god in this world and to be happy with him forever in the next. We especially pray for the sick and for catholic healthcare providers. We sponsor a prayer and worship service including the chaplet of divine mercy daily at 3 pm from our main eucharistic adoration chapel. This is open to the public, led by our staff and clinicians, and livestreamed on certain occasions. We collect and share prayer requests on our website and email lists. We print prayer intention cards and other prayer materials.

  4. Blessed are the poor initiative: we fund charity care for the uninsured and underinsured who are seeking catholic healthcare, we provide grant support for continuing medical education from a catholic perspective, and we advocate for equitable reimbursement for catholic healthcare services. Evangelization initiative: this initiative is the overall philosophy and mission of our religious apostolate, and is captured in our mission statement: to answer the call of jesus christ in luke 10:9, when he said, "cure the sick who are there, and say to them, 'the kingdom of god has come near to you.'" our apostolate is based on the dual call of jesus christ to both cure the sick and proclaim his kingdom. We support catholic healthcare professionals to respond to both calls. We believe healthcare professionals cannot fully answer this dual call unless they are practicing independently and with the full voice of faith. Everyone involved with mycatholicdoctor is asked to prayerfully follow the holy spirit's inspiration in discerning how to respond to this call in their daily work. Ponder the meaning of the words of luke 10:9: how is god calling you to cure the sick, in body, mind, and spirit?…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2021 → 2023: the base narrowed from 7 funders to 6 funders, grant income rose $317k → $366k.

5 of 11 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 56% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of MY CATHOLIC DOCTOR FOUNDATION INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

MY CATHOLIC DOCTOR FOUNDATION INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 50% of grant income and the top three 95%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

57% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund MY CATHOLIC DOCTOR FOUNDATION INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

56% of MY CATHOLIC DOCTOR FOUNDATION INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $634k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside Connecticut, across 5 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $817k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
