01What it does

What Minnesota Medical Association does

Mission

To be the leading voice of medicine to make minnesota the healthiest state and the best place to practice.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. Founded in 1853, the Minnesota Medical Association (mma) is the state's oldest and largest professional membership association for physicians and physicians-in-training. The mission of the mma is to be the leading voice of medicine to make minnesota the healthiest state and the best place to practice. With more than 10,000 members, the mma advances its mission by educating, convening, and collaborating with stakeholders to effectively advocate, engage, empower, and inform minnesota physicians. The mma publishes a bi-monthly magazine, minnesota medicine; a weekly electronic newsletter; and maintains a website. The organization accredits organizations to deliver continuing medical education, and directly and jointly provides continuing medical education activities. Members engage with the mma by volunteering on committees, attending events, participating in advocacy, serving as mentors, and accessing education. Key strategic outcomes for the mma include improved patient and population health; improved health equity; professional satisfaction and well-being; increased membership value and engagement; and empowered physicians to navigate evolving systems and changing roles.

The program described on its FY2024 Form 990.

From the IRS filings of MINNESOTA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

MINNESOTA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION leans on a few funders — its largest provides 53% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund MINNESOTA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION.
