01What it does

What Mentoring Timothy Inc does

Mission

Mentoring timothy is a 10-month religious mentoring program for young men who desire to take their relationship with christ more seriously.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. Mentoring timothy is a 9-month discipleship program that mentors young men aged 18-25 years of age. Our goal is to help young men cultivate a relationship with god through the study of the bible and living with fellow believers of christ. In 2024, we enrolled 8 young men for our program and were at max capacity. We believe life change happens when men live in real, intentional, and transparent community. Our program involves learning practical skills, cooking, basic mechanics, bible classes, hikes and adventures, and an international exposure trip. The last four years we have visited intercity programs in argentina and have been so impacted by the ministries there. Our off grid setting is conducive to personal growth through hard work and community living. Our property and environment provides a healthy break from our me-centered world, learning to be still before the lord, and to live a countercultural life that focuses on walking dependently on christ so that we see others through his eyes.

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 4 funders, grant income rose $10k → $97k.

4 of 6 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 93% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of MENTORING TIMOTHY INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

MENTORING TIMOTHY INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 41% of grant income and the top three 93%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

93% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund MENTORING TIMOTHY INC.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2018 100% · 2019 55% · 2020 51% · 2021 69% · 2022 95% · 2023 57% — diversifying over time.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Where its funders are

93% of MENTORING TIMOTHY INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $56k that is directly attributable, 55% of it comes from funders outside Montana, across 2 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $789k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
