01What it does

What Lighthouse Residences Nfp does

Mission

The exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3) are charitable, religious, educational, scientific, literary, testing for public safety, fostering national or international amateur sports competition, and preventing cruelty to children or animals. At Lighthouse Residences NFP we provide safe, affordable, dignified sober living to individuals seeking recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. We provide resources that promote spiritual growth, drug and alcohol education, and support the scientific community by communicating the effectiveness of sober communities in fostering long term sobriety. We provide individuals with direct financial support through our charitable endeavors.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. Lighthouse Residences was able to secure a long term lease for a sober residence that will be able to support up to 20 individuals per year beginning in 2022. We continued to help individuals along their spiritual journey towards recovery and freedom from drugs and alcohol by applying the 12 steps to a living recovery plan. We continued to develop relationships with addiction treatment facilities around the country offering support in placing individuals seeking sober transitional living and those facilities that share the same 12 step approach to long term recovery. In 2024 we awarded individuals housing scholarships equal to $64,725 in rent. This assistance allows individuals to stay in our sober living facility, providing a solid foundation to build long term sobriety.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2021 → 2023: the base narrowed from 3 funders to 1 funder, grant income fell $26k → $10k.

4 of 5 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 80% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of LIGHTHOUSE RESIDENCES NFP’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

LIGHTHOUSE RESIDENCES NFP leans on a few funders — its largest provides 30% of grant income and the top three 70%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

80% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund LIGHTHOUSE RESIDENCES NFP.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2021 41% · 2023 100% — growing more concentrated.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

80% of LIGHTHOUSE RESIDENCES NFP's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $10k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from Illinois funders.

IL

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $41k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
