01What it does

What Haven of Hope International Inc does

Mission

Haven of hope international (hohi) is at the forefront of orphan care innovation with its mission to raise the standard of care for orphans left behind and abandoned by traditional adoption systems. Its mission is simple and specific: strengthen and empower homes to provide a therapeutic model of care that rescues, loves, restores, and equips the abused and abandoned children they serve. Hohi achieves its mission by enhancing the capabilities of orphan and foster care facilities to deliver better and sustainable care. The organization offers various resources, including financial aid, strategic programs, training, coaching, and access to partner resources. These resources enable homes to transition from basic survival (providing minimal necessities like one meal a day and a bed) to thriving, self-sustaining environments.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. At the heart of hohi's mission are the four pillars of purpose: rescue, love, restore, and equip. The love pillar serves as the foundation of the program-oriented rescue, restore, and equip pillars: "rescue programs focus on creating safe living conditions, ensuring access to essentials like food, water, and medical and dental care. "restore programs address the emotional and psychological needs of children through trauma care, support from psychologists and social workers, pastoral care, and prayer. "equip programs concentrate on education, technology training, vocational skills development, readiness for independent living, life skills, and achieving self-sustainability. By focusing on these pillars, and its collaborative approach with partner orphanages, hohi aims to elevate orphan care standards globally and empower facilities to provide comprehensive and lasting support to children in need. In 2024, hohi provided grants to seven partner homes in six countries: bolivia, peru, kenya, tanzania, trinidad and florida, impacting 225+ children. 03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 4 funders to 6 funders, grant income rose $29k → $43k.

7 of 15 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 77% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of HAVEN OF HOPE INTERNATIONAL INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 14 of 15 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

HAVEN OF HOPE INTERNATIONAL INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 41% of grant income and the top three 64%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

77% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund HAVEN OF HOPE INTERNATIONAL INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Where its funders are

77% of HAVEN OF HOPE INTERNATIONAL INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $99k that is directly attributable, 80% of it comes from funders outside Florida, across 4 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $333k arriving through sponsors registered in 6 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
